Schengen Days: Why the UK has the Best Professional Esports Bootcamps in Europe

Schengen days are a key consideration for teams booking professional esports bootcamps. With the vast majority of tier 1 esports events taking place in the Schengen zone of the European Union, and esports teams looking for the top preparation for those events, the last thing you need is to hit your visa limit. That’s why Pracrooms, based in the UK and therefore exempt from the Schengen Zone, is the ideal location for a professional esports bootcamp in Counter-Strike 2, Rocket League, DOTA 2, Rainbow Six: Siege and more.

What is the Schengen Zone?

The Schengen Zone includes Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. Many of these countries host esports events, with BLAST operating a studio in Copenhagen, ESL running Intel Extreme Masters and Cologne, and PGL running events in Cluj-Napoca and Bucharest, to name only a few. Therefore it’s key when looking for a professional esports bootcamp to find a country that does not count towards your Schengen days.

How many days?

If you’re coming from outside the EU for a professional esports bootcamp, such as North American or South American esports teams, your total stay in the Schengen area must be no longer than 90 days across a 180 day period. That’s roughly 3 months every 6 months. That may seem like a lot but if you add a week’s bootcamp to a week-long event that’s 1/6th of your Schengen days.

Why Pracrooms?

All our Pracrooms facilities are based in the UK which means you get all the benefits of being in Europe such as low ping and top-tier practice, without having to worry about Schengen days. The UK is not a part of the Schengen Zone so any bootcamp days spent in the UK do not count towards your 90 days per 180, your professional esports team can focus instead on practicing or competing in officials, whichever you prefer. So if you’re looking to bootcamp in Europe take advantage of the UK’s unique position and contact us today.
